Huang Ying is the only blind student in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. After the gaokao, she was still worried about not being admitted to any college because of eyesight even with a high score. But eventually Huang was admitted to Wuhan University of Technology. In recent years, more blind students start to take the college entrance examination (gaokao). However, due to the fact that many colleges lack special teachers and braille teaching materials, these students still cannot realize their college dream. In this year, there are 8 blind students who took the gaokao, and 7 of them were admitted by colleges. Among the 7 students, two of them got admission letters from Central Conservatory of Music and Tianjin Conservatory of Music. The Ministry of Education says that no blind student would be rejected by a college because of their disability. Comparing with the exam for normal students, the gaokao for blind students has to be specially made. In order to make it more convenient for students with disabilities, the Ministry of Education formulated new examination outlines, hired braille experts to make the tests, set up green channels and separate exam rooms for blind students. The ministry does not allow colleges to reject any blind student if the student’s scores have met the requirement and they can live independently. Zheng Rongquan was a senior who attended the gaokao in Zhejiang this year. The teachers in charge of gaokao in Zhejiang voluntarily contacted him and helped him choosing colleges. Zheng eventually received the admission letter from Wenzhou University, and became the first blind student of the university.
