The Chinese Language Speech Contest for International Students 2019, part of Peking University International Culture Festival 2019, was held last week. A total of 36 contestants from 22 countries participated in the competition. Students spoke on a wide variety of topics, from Chinese identity and cultural differences in family values to the similarities between Chinese and western cuisine, then on to education, fashion and more. Students also shared what inspired them to come and study in China and learn Chinese. The fluency of their Chinese amazed our judges, and their passion for Chinese culture touched their hearts. Co-organized by PKU School of Chinese as a Second Language, PKU Office of International Relations, and PKU Office of Global Communications, the Contest awarded three students the First-Class Prize and several others won Second- and Third-Class Prizes. But, the judges aren't the only ones that get a choice! For the competition, contestants were divided into three groups according to their Chinese language level: Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced. We chose the top 6 participants from each level as nominees for the Audience Choice Award. Today, we welcome the top 6 contestants from the beginner-level competition. Check out this video and vote for your favorite beginner-level contestants! The one who wins the most votes will be given the Audience Choice Award and a special gift package from us. So, make your choice, and let's see which of these outstanding students turns out to be the most popular! |
