Little Nutbrown Hare, who was going to bed, held on tight to Big Nutbrown Hare’s very long ears.

小栗色兔子該上床睡覺了，可是他緊緊地抓住大栗色兔子的長耳朵不放。

He wanted to be sure that Big Nutbrown Hare was listening. 'Guess how much I love you,' he said.

'Oh, I don’t think I could guess that,' said Big Nutbrown Hare.

他要大兔子好好聽他說。'猜猜我有多愛你。'他說。

大兔子說：'喔，這我可猜不出來。'

'This much,' said Little Nutbrown Hare, stretching out his arms as wide as they could go.

'這么多。'小兔子說，他把手臂張開，張得不能再張。

Big Nutbrown Hare had even longer arms. 'But I love you this much,' he said. 'Hmm,that is a lot', said Little Nutbrown Hare.

大兔子的手臂要長得多，'我愛你有這么多。'他說。'嗯，這真的很多，'小兔子想。

'I love you as high as I can reach,' said Little Nutbrown Hare.

'我能夠多高，我就有多愛你。'小兔子說。

'I love you as high as Ican reach,'said Big Nutbrown Hare.

'That is very high', said Little Nutbrown Hare. 'I wish I had arms like that.'

'我能夠多高，我就有多愛你。'大兔子說。

'這可真高，'小兔子想，'我要是有那么長的手臂就好了。'

Then Little Nutbrown Hare had a good idea. He tumbled upside down and reached up the tree trunk with his feet.

'I love you all the way up to my toes!' he said.

小兔子有了一個好主意，他倒立起來，把腳撐在樹干上。

'我愛你一直到我的腳趾頭。'他說。

'AndIlove you all the way up to your toes,' said Big Nutbrown Hare, swinging him up over his head.

'我愛你一直到你的腳趾頭。'大兔子把小兔子抱起來，高高地甩過自己的頭頂。

'I love you as high as I can hop!' laughed Little Nutbrown Hare, bouncing up and down.

'我跳得多高，就有多愛你！'小兔子笑著，跳上跳下。

' But I love you as high asI can hop,' smiled Big Nutbrown Hare--and he hopped so high that his ears touched the branches above.

That’s good hopping,thought Little Nutbrown Hare. I wish I could hop like that.

'我跳得有多高，就有多愛你。'大兔子也笑著跳起來——他跳得這么高，耳朵都碰到樹枝了。

這一跳真是太棒了，小兔子想，我要是能跳得這么高就好了。

' I love you all the way down the lane as far as the river,' cried Little Nutbrown Hare.

'I love you across the river and over the hills,' said Big Nutbrown Hare.

'我的愛沿著這條小路一直往前，像這條小河一樣遠。'小兔子喊起來。

'我的愛，遠到跨過小河，再翻過山丘。'大兔子說。

That’s very far, thought Little Nutbrown Hare.

He was almost too sleepy to think anymore.

Then he looked beyond the thornbushes, out into the big dark night. Nothing could be father than the sky.

這可真遠，小兔子想。

他太困了，想不出更多的東西來了。

他的目光越過灌木叢，一直望到漫無邊際的黑沉沉的夜空。沒有什么比天空更遠的了。

'I love you right up to the moon,' he said, and closed his eyes.

'Oh, that’s far,' said BigNutbrown Hare. 'That is very, very far.'

'我愛你一直到月亮那里。'說完，小兔子閉上了眼睛。

'哦，這真的很遠，'大兔子說，'非常非常的遠。'

Big Nutbrown Hare settled Little Nutbrown Hare into his bed of leaves.

He leaned over and kissed him good night.

大兔子把小兔子擁進用葉子鋪成的床上。

他俯下身子，親了親小兔子，對他說晚安。

Then he lay down close by and whispered with a smile, 'I love you right up to the moon—and back.'

然后他躺在小兔子的身邊，微笑著輕聲地說：'我愛你一直到月亮那里，再從月亮上回到這里。'
