even though（但不用even although）可以用來表示despite the fact that（盡管…）的意思，

even if表示whether or not（是否）的意思。試比較：

Even though Tom doesn’t speak Spanish, I think he should still visit Madrid.

(=Despite the fact that he doesn’t speak Spanish)

i.e. the speaker knows that Tom doesn’t speak Spanish

Even if Tom doesn’t speak Spanish, I think he should still visit Madrid.

(=Whether or not he speaks Spanish)

i.e. the speaker doesn’t know definitely whether Tom speaks Spanish or not

注意even if和even though之間的區(qū)別：

Even if he loves her, he can’t marry her. 即使他愛她，他也不娶她。

Even though he loves her, he can’t marry her. 盡管他愛她，但是他不能娶她。

even if = ‘I don’t know whether he loves her…’（我并不知道他是否愛她…）

even though = ‘I know he loves her, but in spite of this…’（我知道他愛她，但盡管如此…）

even though—used as a stronger way to say ‘though’ or ‘a(chǎn)lthough’雖然，盡管（比though或although的語氣更強(qiáng)）

She stayed with him even though he often mistreated her.

I’m going even though it may rain. 雖然可能下雨，但我還是要去。

比較even if和even though。

Even if the rumour is untrue, people will still believe it. (The rumour may or may not be untrue.)

即使傳聞是假的，人們?nèi)匀粫?huì)相信。

盡管傳聞是假的，人們?nèi)匀粫?huì)相信。

在漢語中，“即使”，表示假設(shè)的讓步，“即使”所表示的條件，可以是尚未實(shí)現(xiàn)的事情，也可以是與既成事實(shí)相反的事情。

而“雖然”表示承認(rèn)一事情為事實(shí)，但另一件事情并不因此而成立。

從中可見：即使——可以是真實(shí)的，也可以是非真實(shí)的。

even though可以引導(dǎo)讓步狀語從句。

even if可以引導(dǎo)讓步狀語從句+非真實(shí)條件句。

他們是不會(huì)給我一份工作的，即使這些條件我都具備。

這就是說，在引導(dǎo)讓步從句的時(shí)候even though與even if有時(shí)可以換用。

對(duì)于其中的區(qū)別差異點(diǎn)可以這樣記憶：

even though理解為although的強(qiáng)調(diào)形式：盡管，雖然。

even if中的if可以引導(dǎo)非真實(shí)條件從句，那么even if也同此：即使，即便是。
